Love Gives So Others May Live

The cross reveals love willing to give at great cost.

1 John 3:16 (KJV) — “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”

Bible Tour: DAY 69 OF 365 Joshua 18–20

Devotional Teaching

The cross reveals love willing to give at great cost. God’s love moves toward people who need salvation, and it teaches us to move beyond convenience. We cannot redeem anyone, but we can share the Gospel, give time and welcome someone into fellowship. Let concern for people replace the habit of passing them by. Speak about Jesus honestly and respectfully, allowing others to respond freely. Love also listens to questions and stays present after an invitation. Ask the Lord whom you can serve today so that His generosity becomes visible through your life.

Deeper Insight

Joshua 18–20 describes remaining allotments and cities of refuge. Community life required both places to live and safeguards for those facing an accusation of bloodshed. God’s concern for justice reminds us to make room for people and fair treatment.

Biblical Examples

  • Cities of refuge (Joshua 20): Protection and due process are built into Israel’s life.
  • Jesus (John 3:14–17): God gives His Son for the salvation of the world.
  • Philip (Acts 8:26–39): He responds to an opportunity and explains the good news.

Prayer Focus

  1. Fill us with Your generous and sacrificial love.
  2. Remove indifference toward people who do not know Christ.
  3. Use our prayers, time and invitations to help others encounter Jesus.

Spirit-Led Growth Step

Reflect on the cost of God’s gift in Christ. Ask whom you can love through a willing sacrifice of time or convenience.

Daily Declaration

God’s love fills and compels us. We give ourselves willingly to sharing the good news of Christ.
