The Indwelling Spirit: God's Presence Within
You do not have to travel to a special atmosphere to begin living in fellowship with God.Scripture Foundations
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (KJV)
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
Thematic study passages: 1 Corinthians 6:12-20; Romans 8:1-11; Ephesians 1:3-14
Daily Bible Tour: DAY 95 OF 365 2 Samuel 16–18
The Bible Tour follows three consecutive chapters each day. These readings are separate from the approved Holy Spirit thematic passages above.
Devotional Teaching
Paul's teaching that the believer's body is a temple of the Holy Spirit appears in a practical discussion about conduct. He is not offering a decorative slogan. He is explaining why what we do with our bodies matters. We belong to Christ, having been bought at a price, and God has made His dwelling among and within His people. His presence brings both astonishing dignity and a new responsibility.
The indwelling of the Spirit belongs to life in Christ; it is not a prize for a spiritual elite. Romans 8:9 connects belonging to Christ with having His Spirit. Ephesians 1:13 connects the gospel, believing, and being sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. A believer should not live as though God is permanently far away and only occasionally persuaded to visit. The call is to recognise, trust, and respond to the presence He has graciously given.
However, indwelling and daily responsiveness are not identical. A person can belong to God and still need correction, renewed attention, and deeper surrender. This is why Scripture addresses believers about grieving the Spirit, walking in the Spirit, and being filled with the Spirit. We do not need to persuade Him to become holy or loving; we need to bring our choices under His holy, loving direction. His presence is a gift; our growing cooperation is part of discipleship.
This changes ordinary life. Your body is not disposable equipment for an ambitious ministry schedule. Honour God in sexual conduct, speech, rest, and the way you treat yourself and others. Your workplace is not a spiritually vacant zone. Ask for patience before a difficult conversation and wisdom before a decision. Your home is not less important than a platform. The Spirit who helps you pray also helps you keep a promise and apologise sincerely.
There is a corporate dimension as well: Paul tells the church that it is God's temple. We therefore honour His presence by caring for other believers, protecting unity, and refusing to treat people as tools for an event. As November unfolds, let this truth steady you: the Lord is not absent from an ordinary morning. Begin where you are, with the responsibilities you have. Quiet obedience in His presence can become a powerful testimony to the God who lives among His people.
Deeper Insight
The presence of the Spirit does not make ordinary responsibilities unimportant; it makes them opportunities to honour God.
Scripture-Led Prayers and Declarations
1. Rest in belonging
Ephesians 1:13 (KJV)
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Prayer: Father, thank You for receiving me through the gospel of Jesus and sealing Your people with the Holy Spirit. Strengthen my confidence in Your faithfulness. Free me from constantly chasing a feeling as proof that You care for me.
Declaration: I belong to Christ. My confidence rests in His gospel and the gift of His Spirit.
2. Yield every part of life
Romans 8:9 (KJV)
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, govern my desires, habits, and decisions. Help me live as someone who belongs to Christ. Show me one area that needs a practical change, and give me courage to respond rather than postponing obedience.
Declaration: I belong to Jesus and yield my daily choices to His Spirit.
3. Honour God in His people
1 Corinthians 3:16 (KJV)
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
Prayer: Lord, make KDC a community that honours Your presence. Protect our fellowship from contempt, division, and careless treatment of people. Teach us to care for volunteers, families, and guests as people precious to You.
Declaration: We are God's people and His dwelling place. I will build up, not tear down, His Church.
Daily Declaration
I am not spiritually abandoned. The Holy Spirit dwells in those who belong to Jesus, and I will honour His presence. My body, my speech, my home, and my work are offered to God. I receive grace for faithful choices in ordinary moments. I will value His people and walk with Him beyond the walls of a church building. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Practical Action
Set three brief prayer pauses today: before work, before a conversation, and before rest. At each pause, consciously yield the next part of your day to God.

Which ordinary part of my day have I been treating as though God were absent?
OUR UNITED DECLARATION FOR NOVEMBER
We are a people loved by the Father, redeemed by Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
This November, we yield ourselves afresh to God. We receive grace to know His Word, obey His voice and walk in His wisdom.
We trust Him for mercy, favour, direction and provision. We bring our families, marriages, health, careers and businesses under His care. We will work diligently, love faithfully and follow His leading.
We ask for fresh fire, fresh dew and fresh empowerment. May our faith deepen, our understanding grow and our service bear lasting fruit.
We dedicate KDC, Banquet with the King, the Regina City Mass Choir, RCRC and 1,000 Voices to the glory of God. Let worship rise, let the gospel be heard, let lives be restored and let people come to Jesus.
Lord, manifest Your power in us, through us and among us. Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
