Unity That Makes Christ Known

Jesus prays for a unity that points the world toward Him.

Scripture Foundations

John 17:21 (KJV) — “That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.”
Ephesians 4:3 (KJV) — “Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

Bible Tour: DAY 88 OF 365 1 Samuel 26–28

Devotional Teaching

Jesus prays for a unity that points the world toward Him. Such unity grows through shared allegiance to Christ, humility and truthful relationships. It does not require every church to have the same style, nor does it ask us to ignore harmful conduct or essential truth. Pray for other congregations without comparison. Speak of fellow believers with care and look for appropriate opportunities to serve together. In Regina, mutual honour can strengthen witness and deepen trust. Begin with the relationships already entrusted to you and become a person who helps peace grow.

Deeper Insight

1 Samuel 26–28 contrasts David’s restraint toward Saul with Saul’s desperate search for guidance through a forbidden medium. Rivalry and fear can lead to destructive choices. Peace requires both refusing personal revenge and remaining faithful to God’s ways.

Biblical Examples

  • David (1 Samuel 26:7–12): He refuses an opportunity to kill Saul.
  • Jesus (John 17:20–23): He prays for the unity of future believers.
  • The Jerusalem church (Acts 15:1–31): Serious disagreement is addressed through discussion and shared discernment.

Prayer Focus

  1. Unite believers and churches throughout Regina in Your truth and love.
  2. Heal competition, suspicion and unnecessary division.
  3. Give pastors and ministries humility and a shared burden for Gospel witness.
