Serving Jesus by Caring for People

Jesus connects love for Him with care for His people.

Scripture Foundations

John 21:15 (KJV) — “So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.”
Galatians 5:13 (KJV) — “For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.”

Bible Tour: DAY 65 OF 365 Joshua 6–8

Devotional Teaching

Jesus connects love for Him with care for His people. Ministry is a trust involving real lives, not a platform for proving our importance. Feeding His lambs requires sound teaching, patient listening and dependable attention. It also requires motives that can withstand being overlooked. If service has become a competition, return to the Lord who entrusted people to your care. Ask what helps them grow rather than what makes you appear successful. A loving worker prepares carefully, speaks truth gently and follows through after the public moment has passed.

Deeper Insight

Joshua 6–8 includes victory, Achan’s disobedience, defeat and renewed obedience. Hidden self-interest affected the whole community. Leaders and workers need accountability because private choices can damage those they are called to serve.

Biblical Examples

  • Achan (Joshua 7): Secret appropriation of devoted goods harms the community.
  • Peter (John 21:15–17): Restored love is expressed through shepherding.
  • Paul (1 Thessalonians 2:7–12): He describes ministry with tenderness and personal care.

Prayer Focus

  1. Jesus, let our service flow from genuine love for You.
  2. Deliver us from recognition-seeking, comparison and selfish ambition.
  3. Give KDC leaders tender hearts to feed, protect and disciple Your people.

Spirit-Led Growth Step

Examine why you serve. Bring any desire for status to Jesus and ask Him to renew your concern for the people entrusted to you.

Daily Declaration

We serve because we love Jesus. We care faithfully for His people with pure motives.

Practical Action

Contact someone you serve and ask what would help them grow; follow through on one appropriate need.
