Faith That Sees Before It Possesses
Faith receives God's picture, agrees with His promise and prepares before manifestation.Scripture Foundations
Hebrews 11:1 - "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
2 Corinthians 5:7 - "For we walk by faith, not by sight."
Bible Tour: Leviticus 16-18
Devotional Teaching
The Day of Atonement teaches us to begin with what God has provided, not what human effort can manufacture. Israel's cleansing came through the sacrifice and priestly ministry God appointed. From that place of reconciliation, the nation was called to reject corrupt patterns and live distinctly. Faith grows when we rest in God's grace, trust His appointed way and respond with holiness. The Holy Spirit strengthens us to live out what grace has made possible.
Deeper Insight
The Day of Atonement placed reconciliation before moral achievement. Israel could not manufacture access to God; they received it through the appointed sacrifice, then were called to live differently. Faith rests in God's provision, rejects human substitutes and prepares a holy life in response to grace.
Biblical Examples
- The High Priest and Israel (Leviticus 16): On the Day of Atonement, Israel trusted God's appointed sacrifice and received cleansing before pursuing holy living.
- The Woman with the Issue of Blood (Mark 5:25-34): She moved through the crowd with a clear faith expectation and touched Jesus.
- The Centurion (Matthew 8:5-13): He recognized the authority of Christ's word before seeing his servant healed.
