Devotional Teaching
Christian generosity begins with a willing heart. We give in response to grace, not to purchase God’s favour or gain standing above others. Thoughtful giving considers genuine needs and the responsibilities already entrusted to us. It also asks that gifts be managed transparently. Whether the amount is large or small, let love and gratitude lead. Resist comparison and pressure. Pray over what you can offer, decide honestly and give joyfully. A church that handles resources faithfully helps people participate with trust and confidence.
Deeper Insight
1 Samuel 5–7 describes the ark among the Philistines, its return and Israel’s call to put away foreign gods. The ark could not be treated as a tool to control God. Similarly, giving is an act of worship, not a transaction that obliges Him to fulfil our demands.
Biblical Examples
- Israel’s return (1 Samuel 7:3–6): Renewed devotion involves putting away rival loyalties.
- David and the people (1 Chronicles 29:6–14): Willing gifts are offered with joy and gratitude.
- The Macedonians (2 Corinthians 8:1–5): Their generosity grows from first giving themselves to the Lord.
Prayer Focus
- Raise willing givers whose hearts belong to You.
- Remove fear, greed and comparison from our giving.
- Give KDC integrity and wisdom in managing every entrusted resource.
