Doing Good with What We Have
Love notices an opportunity and uses what is available.Scripture Foundations
Galatians 6:10 (KJV) — “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.”
1 John 3:18 (KJV) — “My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.”
Bible Tour: DAY 75 OF 365 Judges 12–14
Devotional Teaching
Love notices an opportunity and uses what is available. A meal, a ride, a helpful introduction or an encouraging call can ease a real burden. We do not need abundant resources before becoming generous. Begin with what you can offer responsibly, ask rather than assume and protect the person’s privacy. Practical care should preserve dignity instead of creating dependence on our approval. Within KDC, make room for the sick, grieving, unemployed and isolated. Good intentions become fruitful when someone receives appropriate help and a promise becomes a completed action.
Deeper Insight
Judges 12–14 includes destructive tribal conflict and the beginning of Samson’s life. Gifts and calling do not automatically produce mature character. Love requires our abilities to be governed by obedience and concern for others, rather than personal impulse.
Biblical Examples
- Tribal conflict (Judges 12:1–6): Hostility shows the terrible cost of division.
- Manoah (Judges 13:8): He asks for instruction about a responsibility entrusted to his family.
- Dorcas (Acts 9:36–39): Her clothing and good works meet tangible needs.
Prayer Focus
- Show us practical opportunities to do good.
- Help us care wisely for people who are sick, lonely or under pressure.
- Make KDC generous with time, encouragement and useful resources.
Spirit-Led Growth Step
Look at the resources already in your hands. Ask God to help you turn one of them into timely, respectful care.
Daily Declaration
We love in deed and in truth. We use what God provides to help others with dignity.
Practical Action
Ask one person what help would be useful and provide or arrange one realistic form of support.
